From ethical, creative, and environmental standpoints, Kasey Worst refuses to use generative Ai, or an LLM by any other name, in her publication process.
She writes her own books. She designs her own interiors, and photographed and designed the cover art for her first work, Worst Words, Worst Order, herself. She does not need or want artificial intelligence involved in this process whatsoever. Creativity is a vital component of the joy she gets from writing. She won’t outsource that to an algorithm.
Any editors, beta readers or artists she works with will be made to sign an agreement to produce wholly human-created feedback and artwork. If she discovers that an editor, beta reader or artist has used generative Ai in work she has contracted from them, she will blacklist them, and scrap their contribution to the publication.
No exceptions.
The human mind is brilliant on its own. Writers have spent millennia crafting stories without the use of generative Ai, and can continue to do so. The slop generated by Ai is not art. It is a soulless theft from real creatives, with a staggering environmental impact that threatens to devastate communities, and is already doing so in some places.
There is no reason to use generative Ai in storytelling. Kasey’s voice is her own, and she does not give permission for any of her work to be used in generative Ai, LLMs, or any other name this thieving tech may be given as it floods the market with plagiarist garbage.
